Let me tell you about my mom...
Homemade outfits, hand-painted ornaments, dance classes, and piano lessons: this was the fabric of my childhood, woven entirely by my mom. She is my ultimate crafting inspiration.
If something was torn, she taught me it could be mended. If I wanted to be Wonder Woman for Halloween, she showed me it could be created.
Our kitchen table was her painting workspace, the dining room was her music studio, and the spare bedroom was her sewing haven.
Tap dancing was even allowed in the kitchen—unless she was baking. Stomping on the floor, I learned, completely ruins the rise of cakes and cookies. Who knew?
The older I get, the more I realize I am just like my mom. My mind is a patchwork quilt of sewing, painting, and dancing—but definitely not baking. I'm too much of a free spirit in the kitchen to bother with exact measurements.
Just as my mom showed me the endless possibilities of creativity, I hope to pass down the same joy of handmade creation to my own daughter.
